Melora Rivera – Amanda Davis Daughter

Melora Rivera is Amanda Davis daughter.  Davis sadly passed away after suffering a massive stroke. Rivera is a talented writer who has years of experience producing and directing films.  In 2011, she joined Akil Productions as an assistant to Director Salim Akil, the husband of Mara Brock Akil.  Rivera’s position at Akil has enabled her to write for several successful shows.

Writing For The Stars

Melora Rivera has worked with some of the most popular entertainers on the planet.  Her hard work and strong Hollywood connections ensure that we’ll be talking about her in the future and her mother will be smiling down.  In 2012, Rivera worked on Sparkle starring Jordin Sparks, Derek Luke, Whitney Houston, Cee Lo Green, Omari Hardwick and Tika Sumpter.

From 2012 to 2013, Rivera worked on The Game.  She wrote for talented young stars including Brandy Norwood, Lauren London and Jay Ellis.  In 2013, Melora worked with the stars of Being Mary Jane, including Gabrielle Union.  Her hard work was paying off.  Melora was promoted for Salim Akil’s assistant to writer’s assistant and script coordinator.

Being Mary Jane was one of BET’s most successful shows of all-time.  Melora earned her first solo writing credit in episode 6 of season 3, “Don’t Call It A Comeback.” The episode was directed by Neema Barnette, the first black woman sitcom director best known for her work on A Different World, Gilmore Girls and The Cosby Show.

In 2015, Akil Productions signed a three-year overall deal with Warner Bros TV.  Rivera was recently promoted to Director of Development.  She’ll transform ideas into profits and oversee major projects.  She’s currently working on the upcoming series Black Lightning which will air on The CW.  Melora’s future is bright and she’ll continue to make her mother proud.
