Uber might want to stop trying to make excuses. In the tweet above, the company’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Sedlak claims that Rafael and Rafaela are not the same person. She was born Rafael but changed her name to Rafaela.
Rafaela Vasquez Was Texting
Phoenix New Times reports that Rafael aka Rafaela was texting while she was in the car. The video shows her looking down at her mobile device and then she’s seen in a state of shock as the car hits Elaine.
Tempe Police Chief Sylvia Moir initially stated that the Uber vehicle most like wouldn’t be found at fault but the video tells a different story. If Vasquez would have been paying attention she would have seen Elaine crossing the street with her bike and could have avoided the accident.
