Moonlight Oscar winner, Mahershala Ali plays James Cross in Roxanne Roxanne. Cross is much older than Roxanne. When Shante was 16 she was living in a house with Cross and her son.
In adulthood, Roxanne ends her relationship with Cross. He demands $10,000 to return her son and Shante pays him.
Roxanne And Her Husband Run Mind Over Matter
In the pic above, Roxanne is wearing a Mind Over Matter sweatshirt. Mind Over Matter is a nonprofit organization that Shante and her husband launched to mentor troubled teenagers. The program hosts special events on important topics like financial literacy and the importance of education.
Biz Markie Used To Babysit Roxanne’s Son
Roxanne explains that Biz Markie and Big Daddy Kane used to babysit her kids while she performed on stage. She considers the rappers her brothers.
