Karlie attends Shooter’s son’s funeral to support her friend Sierra. In the video at the end of this article, Karlie explains that the funeral reminded her of her father who has cancer. Sean tells Karlie that funerals always remind him of his mother’s death. He explains that he has good parents who were married until his mother died.
Sean’s Mother Is His Inspiration
During an interview with American Songwriter, Garrett explains that his mother is his motivation. Her death opened his eyes, motivating him to pursue his dreams and take on the world. Sean started his career as a songwriter but his mother’s death inspired him to take advantage of his talent so he started performing. In 2008, he released his debut album, Turbo 919.

Sean’s mother’s death inspired him to work harder on his craft and he eventually earned an opportunity to work with Beyonce. In the video above, Garrett explains that Queen Bey played a major role in his success. He warns the world to expect greatness once he works with Beyonce again. Garrett also reveals that Jay-Z nicknamed him “The Pen” after he impressed the rapper with his songwriting skills.
