Taraji P. Henson’s SAG Awards Dress – Acceptance Speech 2017

Taraji P. Henson’s acceptance speech at the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards was unforgettable.  In the video at the end of this article, Henson is seen alongside her Hidden Figures cast mates, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae.  The stars of Hidden Figures won the award for Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture and Taraji could have won the presidential election with her inspirational words of empowerment.

Henson advised her heart to steady itself and then asked God to talk to her.  The Empire star then transformed into Cookie Lyon, for a moment, demanding the audience to “Listen!” She then explained that Hidden Figures is about unity and sent a beautiful shout out to the African American mathematicians Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson.

Taraji explains that without Johnson, Vaughan and Jackson, Project Mercury wouldn’t have been possible.  The mathematicians were the “human computers” who made the space mission possible.  They faced intense racism but Henson explains that they didn’t complain.  They focused on solutions.
Taraji P. Henson’s SAG Awards dress was just as impressive as her speech.  She showed up to the red carpet and slayed in a naked dress by Reem Acra.  The award-winning actress’ new shaved bob hairstyle made it easy to see her Nirav Modi diamond studs.

Check out Taraji’s full speech in the video below:

  • Bryshere Y. Gray Snapchat Name

Scroll to the Snapcode for Bryshere Y. Gray’s Snapchat name!

Bryshere Y. Gray did a magnificent job as Michael Bivins in The New Edition Story.  The talented actor loved playing Bivins but he explained that he no longer wants to play music-related characters.  The Empire star wants to prove that he’s talented enough to play any role.  It will be difficult for some directors to see beyond Hakeem Lyon.

Hakeem has had numerous unforgettable moments on Empire.  In the show’s first season we witnessed him insult President Barack Obama.  Hakeem was kidnapped in season 2 and he became a father in season 3.  The young actor is most likely listening to his mother on the series: Cookie Lyon aka Taraji P. Henson.

Bryshere Y. Gray’s Snapchat name is YazzDaKing:

    Bryshere Y. Gray Snapchat Name

Taraji P. Henson played mathematician, Katherine Johnson in the biographical film, Hidden Figures.  The movie was the most important role of Henson’s career.  For years, directors told Henson that she was too street for many roles.  Taraji is from Washington, D.C. and she keeps it real.  Bryshere is from Philadelphia, PA an urban area, like D.C.

Gray wants to prove that he can play a role that doesn’t involve music.  In 2001, Henson played Yvette in Baby Boy.  The role was a gift and a curse.  Many people loved her in the movie but some people couldn’t imagine her playing a different role.  Tyrese Gibson played Jody in the movie and he landed a role in Fast and Furious two years later.  Gray is hoping to follow a trajectory like Gibson’s.

Bianca Bonnie currently earns $15,000 per episode of Love and Hip Hop.  She’s now working with Yandy Smith.  In the last episode of Love and Hip Hop we see Yandy call Bianca out for partying in Mexico.  Yandy brings Bianca to Cancun to work on some music.  Smith is out with J. Adrienne and they see Bianca partying with Cardi B and Mariahlynn.

Bianca Bonnie aka Bianca Dupree aka Young B, is best known for her 2006 hit song, “Chicken Noodle Soup.” The track earned her a Soul Train Award for Best R&B/Soul or Rap Dance Cut.  The song also earned Young B a record contract when she was only 15-years-old.  The rapper recently teamed up with manager Yandy Smith Harris.

Young B set the bar high with “Chicken Noodle Soup.” The song has over 8 million YouTube views and peaked at number 15 on Billboard’s US Hot Rap Songs chart.  If there’s one person who can take Bianca’s career back to the top, it’s Yandy Smith.  She has worked with some of the most talented artist in the game including LL Cool J, 50 Cent and Missy Elliott.

Bianca Love And Hip Hop Net Worth

Love and Hip Hop New York is the perfect platform for Bianca to remind the world exactly who she is.  There’s no denying the Harlem rapper’s talent.  A manager with a resume like Yandy’s doesn’t agree to work with artists who lack talent.

Love and Hip Hop was once a series for artists who had no hopes in the music industry.  Rappers and singers who were past their prime would agree to appear on the show.  Times have changed led by some of the show’s most recent stars including Fetty Wap and Lyrica Anderson.

  • 10 New Edition Facts We Learned From The BET Mini-Series – Infographic

The infographic below presents 10 facts we now know about New Edition thanks to BET’s mini-series, The New Edition Story.  Last week, the group was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the biopic proves they deserve it.  New Edition paved the way for today’s musicians and the group continues to make history.  Check out 10 facts we learned from The New Edition Story.

    1. Bobby Brown Had Stage Fright As A Kid

Bobby Brown’s confidence, swag and stage presence led him to success as a solo artist. “Triple B” wasn’t always the fearless artist he is today. As a kid, Bobby had stage fright. Brown’s stage fright got the best of him during a talent show in the 1970s. Luckily, Michael Bivins and Ricky Bell were there to help him out. The show marked the group’s first performance together.

Here’s a png version of the New Edition Infographic:

    2. New Edition’s First Record Deal Included $500 And A Betamax Video Player

In 1982, the group signed with Maurice Starr aka Faizon Love’s Streetwise Record label. The singers competed in Starr’s talent show and Maurice wanted to sign Ralph Tresvant as a solo artist. Ralph let Maurice know that he’s a package deal and Maurice complied. Maurice signed the group to one of the most disrespectful contracts of all-time. The boys received $500 and a Betamax video player as a signing bonus.

    3. Johnny Gill Was Originally Brought In To Replace Ralph Tresvant

Ralph Tresvant initially stood by the group’s side but by the late 80s he was thinking about leaving the group. The boys voted Bobby out New Edition. The group was under the impression that Tresvant was leaving so Michael Bivins reached out to Johnny Gill. Many believed that Gill was recruited to replace Bobby but he was actually added to the group because they thought Ralph was leaving.

    4. Bobby Brown’s Gumby Haircut Was An Accident

Bobby Brown’s unforgettable Gumby haircut was not planned. Brown’s barber accidentally cut off half of his high-top. Bobby was getting his haircut for his “Every Little Step” video and his barber misstepped, big time. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. That’s exactly what Bobby did. It has been decades since the singer introduced the hairstyle and people still love it.

    5. Ronnie DeVoe Is Brooke Payne’s Nephew

Brooke Payne was one of the most important people in The New Edition Story. The boys grew up in one of Boston’s most dangerous neighborhoods and none of them had father figures. Brooke’s nephew, Ronnie DeVoe, didn’t have an active father figure in his life so Payne was his role model. Payne added Ronnie to the group in the late 1970s.

    6. Michael Bivins Tried To Kill Bobby Brown

Part 2 of The New Edition Story was intense. After a limousine runs over Mike’s foot, Bobby makes fun of Bivins from the sunroof of the vehicle. Mike spits in Bobby’s face and the two singers get into a fight. The chaos leads the group to consider kicking Mike out. Mike tries to murder Bobby. Luckily, the fight is broken up before Bivins is able to do any serious damage.

    7. Ricky Bell Struggled With Drug Addiction

Bobby Brown’s drug addiction has received a substantial amount of media coverage over the past few decades. New Edition fans were shocked to find out that Ricky Bell struggled with addiction. He revealed his addiction to inspire others. The group’s financial issues led him to lose his home. Bell also had a serious medical emergency. The mini-series showed him during one of the most difficult times in his life.

    8. New Edition’s Chaotic Behavior Led Brooke Payne To Suffer A Heart Attack

In 1997, Brooke Payne, the group’s choreographer and manager, suffered a heart attack. Bobby Brown storms on stage, interrupting Bell Biv DeVoe’s performance. Bobby and Michael fight on stage and then someone in the crowd shoots a gun. Payne can’t handle the chaos and ends up suffering a heart attack.

    9. Each Member Received A Check For $1.87 As Compensation For Their First Tour

The New Edition Story showed Brooke Payne discussing the $1.87 checks each member of the group received after the success of New Edition’s “Candy Girl” album. The boys went on a tour to promote the album and their careers appeared to be taking off. The group gets back home, and reality strikes. They couldn’t wait to receive their big pay days but that day never came. The group’s label, Streetwise, filed for bankruptcy and that was that.

    10. In 1978 Bobby Brown Came Up With The Idea To Form A Music Group

Bobby Brown is New Edition’s gift and curse. The singer played a major role in the group’s problems throughout the 80s and 90s but he’s the person who came up with the idea to start a group. The boys are from the Orchard Park Projects in Roxbury, Boston. In the 70s and 80s the area was crime-infested and extremely dangerous. Bobby Brown’s simple idea saved the boy’s lives.

  • Is Johnny Gill From New Edition Gay?

Is Johnny Gill gay? Rumors about Gill and Eddie Murphy being in a relationship arose a few years ago but Gill has confirmed that he’s not gay.  In the video at the end of this post, Johnny explains that the rumors about his personal life didn’t feel good.  He ended up taking a lie detector test to convince the woman he was dating that the rumors were false.

Johnny Gill and New Edition are making headlines thanks to the success of their BET mini-series, The New Edition Story.  More than 19 million people watched the 3-part series.

Is Johnny Gill From New Edition Gay?
In the video below, Gill reveals that the group is heading back to the studio to work on a new album.  The success of the mini-series proves that Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, Ralph and Johnny are still in demand.
The following Instagram video shows LeBron James showing New Edition some love:

The New Edition Story showed fans all the trials and tribulations the group had to overcome throughout the 1980s and 90s.  From racism to drug abuse, the Boston boy band has seen it all.  Prior to the series, many blamed Bobby Brown for New Edition’s demise.  The truth has set Bobby free.  New Edition’s history is deeper than Brown’s drug habit and BET did a magnificent job unveiling the truth.

The video below shows Johnny Gill discussing gay rumors:

  • Gary Evans, Music – Manager of New Edition, Music

Gary Evans is a fictional character in BET’s The New Edition Story.  In the mini-series, Evans is portrayed by actor, Michael Rapaport.  Many believe the character is based on Steven and Martin Machats.  New Edition hired the law firm of Steven and Martin Machat in the 1980s to sue Streetwise Records.

New Edition signed to Arthur Baker’s Streetwise Records after winning multiple talent contests.  Baker gave the group $500 and a Betamax, an old school video player.  After being released from the contract the group signed with Streetwise, the Machats secured a contract with MCA Records.

    Steven Machat

Steven Machat was born on October 18, 1952 in Manhattan, New York.  His father, Marty Machat, was an entertainment lawyer who represented The Rolling Stones, James Brown and of course, New Edition.  After signing with MCA Records, New Edition signed a management contract with Steven and two of his business partners: Rick Smith and Bill Dern.
The tweet below explains that Machat was the group’s manager from 1983 to 1989:
In 2015, Steven’s son, Barron, sadly passed away in a car crash.  Barron founded the record label, Hippos in Tanks in 2015.
Machat’s political affiliations is most likely why he didn’t want to be included in The New Edition Story.  In 2015, Steven ran for the U.S. Senate in Florida.

    Bobby Brown

In 1985, Bobby Brown left New Edition but decided to maintain his relationship with Machat.  Steve secured Brown a record deal with MCA.  A year later, Brown released his debut album, King of Stage.  In a 1989 interview with Rolling Stone, Brown claimed that Steve, Bill Dem and Rick Smith ripped him off.

    Childish Gambino Wife Kids

Donald Glover’s career is taking off.  He’s 34-years-old with over a decade of experience on some of the industry’s most successful projects.  On Sunday, January 28, 2018, Glover won his first Grammy.  His hit song “Redbone” won the award for best traditional R&B performance:

Childish Gambino Wife Michelle And Baby Boy
In 2015 Glover voiced Miles Morales in Ultimate Spider-Man.  Marvel announced that they’ll be relaunching the film series and Bryshere Y. Gray has made it clear that he’s more than willing to play the role.  Glover will probably be more than willing to give him some advice.
Similar to Gray, Donald made it clear that he would be honored to audition for the role of Spider-Man.  Back in 2010 he started a social media campaign, sharing the hashtag #donald4spiderman.  His hard work paid off in 2014 when he voiced the animated version of the character.  Hopefully one of the amazing actors will land the role!
