Jamoneisha Merritt – GoFundMe

A GoFundMe page for Jamoneisha Merritt was created after she was attacked with a pot of boiling water.  Jamoneisha suffered severe burns to her face and upper body.  She was attacked by someone that she thought was a friend.  Merritt got in an argument with her friend and when she went to sleep her friend threw a pot of boiling water on her head.

Jamoneisha is 11 and her friend is 12.  The incident occurred during a slumber party at Merritt’s friends house in the Bronx, New York.  She was brought to the Harlem Hospital’s burn unit.  Merritt’s friend has serious anger problems and I hope she gets the help she needs.  The image below shows that the 11-year-old is making a progressive recovery:

Merritt suffered severe burns to her face, shoulders, chest and back.  Her mother, Ebony, has been by her side since she checked into the hospital.  Ebony left once to seek legal counsel.  Prosecutors are considering filing felony charges against the 12-year-old.

It’s usually easy to give a child the benefit of the doubt.  Kids make mistakes all the time.  In this case, the 12-year-old must be taught a lesson.  More importantly she must get the help she needs to manage her anger.
