Liz Evans – My 600 lb Life, Update

Liz Evans of Freeport, Texas is featured in episode 5 of My 600 lb Life‘s sixth season.  The 35-year-old weighed 721 pounds and was bedridden for years.  Liz was born with one leg shorter than the other so she wasn’t able to be as active as she wanted to be.  She walked with a limp because the bone was curved, but was still able to get around.

When Liz was 6, she was molested by someone that her family knew.  She was ashamed and felt alone and scared.  Liz didn’t know what to do or who to tell.  Her story is similar to many of the other patients on My 600 lb Life.  She didn’t think her mom would believe her and she didn’t want to tell her father because they were so close.  She pushed the incident out of her mind and pretended that it didn’t exists.

Liz was unable to attend her father’s funeral

Liz was a daddy’s girl.  She explains that she loved hanging out with him throughout her childhood.  Even if he was just going to the corner store, Liz loved spending time with her father.  Liz’s life changed when her father became addicted to drugs.Her parents divorced and it broke Liz’s heart.  Sadly, Liz’s dad died in 2015.  Liz was unable to attend the funeral because of her weight.

At the beginning of the episode, Liz struggled with lymphedema that made it impossible for her to walk.  Dr. Nowzaradan inspired her to take take her first step and approved her for gastric sleeve surgery to reduce her cravings.
By the end of the episode, Liz lost more than half her weight.  Evans went from 721 pounds to 368 pounds.  She working hard to walk again and continues to chase her dream of living an active lifestyle.
