If you watched last night’s episode of Empire you are probably wondering who Robin Simms is.  The episode’s final scene featured Hakeem passing on an opportunity to take Lucious’ life and then the following message appeared: “In memory of our good friend Robin Simms.”

Robin Simms was Empire’s very talented music production director who previously worked for LA Reid at Motown Records.  Sadly, Robin took her own life on November 30, 2015.

Simms worked with a long list of famous artists including Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo and Pitbull.  Simms has also worked with numerous record label including:

  • Universal Republic Records
  • Island Def Jam Motown
  • Interscope Geffen Records
  • Columbia/Roc Nation
  • Sony/RCA Records

Robin was inspired to advance the work of Patrick Kennedy and her family has asked the Kennedy Forum to carry on her legacy by supporting the Kennedy Forum’s mission to create awareness surrounding mental health and addictions.

Robin was an expert with over 20 years of executive experience creating and commissioning spectacular music videos.  Among numerous other reasons, Simms will be remembered for giving key opportunities to many people in the music video industry.

In addition to the artists mentioned above, Robin worked with Pharrell Williams, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Missy Elliott, Kelly Rowland, Rita Ora, Melanie Fiona and Godsmack.

In Robin’s last words she prayed that God would use her for something good.  Please help Robin Simms carry out her legacy by making a donation in her name to the Kennedy Forum.
