In the video below, the real D. Meeks explains that he’s from Southwest, Detroit and he grew up around the corner from Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory.
D. Meeks moved to Detroit when he was 2-years-old and started selling drugs when he was 17. Initially, D. Meeks was selling bundles of heroin but that didn’t go too well since he was new to the game, so he started selling rocks of cocaine.
Growing up, D. Meeks and Demetrius (Big Meech) were best friends. D. Meeks explains that Demetrius and his family was not well off so D. Meeks would often give him and Terry money. In 1985, D. Meeks, Demetrius and Terry met Edrick “E.D.” Boyd, a New Yorker who caught their attention because of the way he dressed and his mindset.
Around 1986, D. Meeks, Demetrius and Southwest T started selling drugs. When they first started, they weren’t called the 50 Boyz. People didn’t start calling them the 50 Boyz until they years down the road.
D. Meeks explains that Edrick taught him, Demetrius and Southwest T the game from teaching them how to dress to teaching them how to sell drugs. D. Meeks says that they would attend concerts together and go out to eat on a regular basis.
Meech came across Edrick “E.D.” Boyd, the Cocaine plug who was raised in New York and migrated to Detroit. E.D. took a liking to Meech because of his confidence and ego at 15 years old.

D. Meeks lists some of his best moments with Demetrius and Terry back in the day, revealing that they met Flavor Flav and Public Enemy and had some unforgettable trips to Las Vegas. “We knew all the rappers, we knew all the basketball players, we was hanging with stars!”
D. Meeks says everything about the street life wasn’t positive. He explains that for 2 years, him, Big Meech and Southwest T had a hit on them. Everywhere they went, they had to have a gun for protection. They were from Southwest, Detroit, and they took over Southwest Detroit, Willow Run, River Rouge, Inkster and Ecorse, becoming some of the most successful drug dealers of all-time. Taking over those territories led to beef with rival drug dealing gangs, and as D. Meeks describes, they were at war.

D. Meeks reveals that he went to jail for a couple years. He had a good lawyer and beat 3-4 cases. He made a large amount of money but explains that when the FEDs or police break you down, they really break you down. He says E.D. didn’t serve jail time because he laid low, and the crew he built under them, like the 50 Boyz were the ones who ended up serving time.
D. Meeks says that he made $1.2 million on a bike and says that him Big Meech, Southwest T, the 50 Boyz and the Black Mafia Family were the greatest and there will never be anything like the 50 Boyz again.
D. Meeks proclaims that 50 Cent can’t tell the BMF story correctly without giving Edrick E.D. Boyd credit for teaching him, Big Meech and Southwest T the drug game.
